19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

His defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He defended four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
